Boston Fire Department Training Video – Boston, MA
This summer we had the unprecedented opportunity to work with the Prestigious Boston Fire Department. We shot in multiple locations in and around Boston at various fire houses. Including Cambridge, Jamaica Plain and Dorchester. We interviewed many Fire Fighters, Chiefs and the Commissioner.
The final video is divided into chapters featuring testimonials, instructional tutorials and a simulation. The video below is only the simulation. For time time constraints and viewer attention spans. This chapter was a little more visual stimulating. The simulation was shot on Moon Island with 5 cameras. including one helmet cam and an infrared camera provided by the BFD.
McElroy Films Working with the Boston Fire Department
McElroy films is currently working with the Boston Fire Department to shoot instructional videos. The Boston Fire Department (BFD) provides fire protection services and emergency medical services in many different situations for Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
We had a very exciting shoot last week with the BFD on Moon Island. Moon Island is located just outside of Boston in Quincy. This is where the BFD trains their firefighters.
We set up a multi cam shoot with not only our regular XDCAM’s, but with thermal imaging & helmet cameras. In the simulation the firefighters were responding to a fire in a three-decker house where the roof collapses. During this situation the roof actually collapses on a firefighter inside the house; trapping him underneath debris so that he has to call a MayDay. From there the rest of the team works on rescuing their comrade and friend while still putting out the fire.
We will be shooting some more this week at the Union Hall and Division One of the BFD. Check back in for more updates and pictures.

We had an exciting shoot yesterday for NIKE in Springfield, MA at the Basketball Hall of Fame. NIKE came to us specifically looking for the Canon 7D for their event. We provided coverage including setup and general overview of the day. The 7D allowed us to be mobile and fast while capturing action from course to course.

NIKE’s SPARQ Training division stands for Speed, Power, Agility, Reaction, and Quickness. They were in MA this weekend evaluating some of the North East’s best high school basketball players. Each player evaluated receives a score based on five simple tests. The score is their SPARQ Rating which shows athletes exactly where they can improve their athletic performance through training.
Shooting in the Basketball Hall of Fame was pretty exciting. Standing beneath hundreds of photos and life-sized replicas of some of the greatest basketball players that ever lived was very moving.
