What’s that! Is it a bird, a plane? No it’s a drone! The newest craze has taken over sports and these drones are popping up at sports fields and arenas all across the globe! The use of drones was first adopted by extreme sports, because the user wanted to get shots of them skateboarding, skiing or snowboarding. With that we saw a huge increase in the use of drones during the winter Olympics in Sochi. It was a huge milestone for the industry because it put drones in the public eye and now it’s becoming a tactic adopted by mainstream sports like football, golf and even polo. Yes, these drones are being used to capture action shots but they have also started to be used for practice reason. Sports teams and players can get an unobstructed view of their playing field and in turn are able to adjust to better their game and positioning. Not only are they a positive in terms of bettering a way a athlete or team preforms, they are making tremendous advances for convenience and affordability. Drones are considerably less expensive then helicopters and easier to set up and maneuver then cable cams or mounted cameras. The GoodYear Blimp better watch out!
